Non-destructive testing (NDT) is based on non-invasive techniques that determine the integrity of a material, component or structure, and measure the characteristics of an object.
NDT plays a crucial role in ensuring cost effective operation, safety and reliability of plants and industrial sites. It is used in a wide range of industrial areas in almost all stages of production or throughout the life cycle of various components. The mainstream applications are in aerospace, power generation, automotive, railway, petrochemical and pipeline markets.
Each NDT method has its own set of advantages and disadvantages and, therefore, some are better suited than others for a particular application.
SGS adopted a system that classifies NDT testing methods into two major categories: conventional testing methods and special examinations.
Special Examinations
Our certified NDT experts will guide you in choosing the most appropriate and efficient NDT method or combination of methods, either for single components or large projects.
Whether it is in fabrication, pipe manufacturing, pipeline or plant construction, chemical or petrochemical plant, shipyard or offshore industry in conventional and nuclear power plant – our non-destructive and mechanical inspections provide quality assurance and process safety.
SGS Industrial Services has the knowledge, expertise and experience to perform conventional and advanced NDT inspections around the world using our unique NDT network. SGS office worldwide.
